Billing and Payments
Overview
Distill uses a subscription-based billing model to provide continuous access to premium monitoring and automation features. Billing is securely processed through our payment partner and supports both monthly and annual plans (available for Starter and Professional plans).
This guide explains how billing works, how to manage your subscription, and what to expect with invoices, renewals, and payment updates.
Subscription Plans and Billing Model
Distill offers several subscription tiers to suit different usage levels — from individual users to enterprise teams. Each plan includes:
- A defined number of monitored URLs
- Access to premium features (e.g., Macros, faster cloud checks)
- Priority support (available on higher tiers)
Billing Frequency
- Monthly Billing – Recurring charge every month on the same date as your initial subscription.
- Annual Billing – One-time payment covering 12 months at a discounted rate. Available for Starter and Professional plans only.
- Flexi and Enterprise Plans – Usage-based or custom plans with flexible billing arrangements.
Accepted Payment Methods
Distill supports the following payment methods:
- Credit/Debit Cards – Visa, MasterCard, American Express
- App Store – Subscriptions made via the iOS app are processed through the App Store
- ACH/Wire Transfer – Available for Enterprise plans only
💡 All payments are securely processed through our payment partner, Stripe.
Managing Your Subscription
You can manage all billing and subscription settings directly from the Billing page in Distill.
- Log in to your account.
- Navigate to Settings → Billing.
- From here, you can:
- View your current plan
- Upgrade or downgrade your subscription
- Update payment information
- Download receipts
- Cancel your subscription (to revert to the Free plan)
Changes typically take effect immediately or at the start of your next billing cycle, depending on the action and plan type.
Plan Changes: Upgrades and Downgrades
- Upgrades: Changes apply immediately, and your new billing cycle starts from the date of the upgrade. You’ll be charged a prorated amount based on your current plan’s unused balance.
- Downgrades: Changes take effect at the start of your next billing cycle. You’ll retain access to your current plan until that date.
To downgrade from one paid plan to another, simply select the new plan.
To downgrade to the Free plan:
- Go to the Billing page.
- Click the down caret icon beside your existing plan.
- Select Cancel Subscription.
- Switching from Annual to Monthly: This change takes effect after your current annual subscription ends. Contact support@distill.io if you wish to switch earlier.
App Store Subscriptions (iOS)
Distill’s iOS app supports subscriptions via the App Store for Starter and Professional plans with monthly payments.
- Payments and renewals are managed directly by Apple.
- To cancel your subscription, go to iPhone Settings → Subscriptions and manage it there.
- For refund requests, please use Apple’s Report a Problem service. Follow the steps in this article to get started:

⚠️ The Flexi plan is not available through the App Store.
If you wish to switch from an App Store subscription to a Flexi plan, cancel your App Store subscription first. Once it expires, you can subscribe directly through the Distill Billing page using a credit card to avoid double billing.
Payment Receipts
Each billing event automatically generates an invoice, which you can access at any time:
- Go to Settings → Billing → Payment History.
- View or download your invoices.
Each invoice includes:
- Invoice number
- Billing date
- Subscribed plan
- Billing address
- Amount paid and currency
🧾 Payment receipts for single-user plans (as listed on Distill Pricing) are not emailed automatically. You can download receipts from your billing page.
Updating Billing Address on Invoices
You can update your billing address at any time:
- Navigate to Settings → Billing → Payment History → Billing Address.
- Edit and save your updated address details.
The change will apply to all the invoices.
Failed Payments
If a payment attempt fails (for example, due to an expired card or insufficient funds):
- You’ll receive an email notification.
- Distill.io will retry the payment up to five times over several days.
- If all retries fail, your account will automatically be downgraded to the Free plan.
To resolve payment issues, update your payment details under Settings → Billing → Payment Methods.
Cancellations and Refunds
You can cancel your subscription anytime:
- Go to Settings → Billing → Plan → Cancel Subscription.
- Your plan remains active until the end of your current billing cycle.
Refund Policy
Refunds are considered only when:
- The charge occurred within the last 7 days, and
- The service has not worked, with usage below 10% of available resources.
Refunds are not issued for partial months or unused time after cancellation.
To request a refund, email our billing team at billing@distill.io.
Billing for Teams and Enterprise
For teams and enterprise customers:
- A single organization-level billing account covers all team members.
- Invoices can include custom company details, PO numbers, and billing contact information.
- Payment by invoice or bank transfer is available for qualified accounts.
